Now one of the better known microbreweries in Milwaukee, Lakefront Brewery was founded in 1987 by two brothers Russ and Jim Klisch. Located on the Milwaukee riverfront, Lakefront’s popularity has increased tenfold over the years as they have developed new and innovative craft brews. Some of the favorites include Riverwest Stein, Eastside Dark, Lakefront IPA and the seasonal Holiday Spice.
New Glarus Brewing Company
In 1993, New Glarus Brewing was founded by Daniel and Deborah Carey in New Glarus, Wisconsin. It has become one of the top 50 craft breweries in the country based on beer sales according to the Brewers Association. This popular craft brewery has won numerous awards including two bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival in 2009.
Central Waters Brewing Company
Originally located in Junction City, Central Waters Brewing was founded by Mike McElwain and Jerome Ebel. Now under a new management, this craft brewery has moved to its current location in Amherst in 2007. This award winning craft brewery offers year round brews as well as seasonal and special releases.
Located in Lake Mills, Wisconsin, Tyranena Brewing was founded in November 1998. Known as the “Legendary Wisconsin Beer”, its brews are available in Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota and Indiana. Some of its popular beers include Chief BlackHawk Porter, Three Beaches Honey Blonde and Headless Man Amber Alt.
Found in Madison, Ale Asylum is known for brewing traditional, bold beers since opening in 2006. To accomodate the growing demand for their high quality brews, they opened a 45,000 square foot facility on Pankratz Street in 2012. The brewery offers year round brews as well as rotating seasonals and special releases.
Lake Louie Brewing
Lake Louie Brewing was founded by Tom Porter in Arena, Wisconsin. Since it started in 2000, Lake Louise has become of Wisconsin’s favorite breweries, producing 6,000 barrels in 2013. Its known offerings include Arena Premium Pale Ale, Golden Booty Cream Ale and Tommy’s Porter.
Founded in 1984, Capital Brewery was started by Ed Janus in Middleton, Wisconsin. For more than 30 years, this award winning brewery has been known for their German style lagers and American style ales.
